January is the easiest month to predict where Serengeti Wildebeest Migration will be.  In February we call it Calving season a period when wildebeest, zebra and other migratory animals give birth to their offspring. Once the calves are born, the herds don’t move much. The chance of witnessing a wildebeest birth is high. Predator interaction is also very likely, as lion and leopard move into the region to prey on young and vulnerable calves.

In March can be fairly wet. Grasslands are lush and green, providing much needed sustenance to the large wildebeest herds. The herds move slowly and predictably, as the one-month old calves are fed constantly. The glut of calves make easy prey for predators. Expect lots of lion and leopard encounters. August is your best month to see the dramatic Mara River crossings in the Serengeti or Maasai Mara. August is a hot and humid month as the dry season kicks into overdrive. The wildebeest herds will continue their search for lush, greener grass and by doing so, attempt to cross the dangerous, and crocodile infested water of the Mara River.
September is similar to August. This month offers more hot and dry weather, as the dry season continues in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara. Most of the wildebeest have crossed the Mara River, and the majority of the herds will be in the Greater Maasai Mara area, eating the lush green grass resources before venturing north towards the private conservancies (Mara North, Olare Orok). September is an easy month to predict where the herds will be. You can still stay in the Serengeti early in the month, but it’s safer to stay on the Masai Mara side to view the last of the Mara River crossings

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, our professional driver will greet you and provide a transfer to Tulia Hotel, one of the affordable accommodation options we offer. Alternatively, we also offer hostel accommodations for a more budget-friendly option or other lodging choices to fit your preferences.

On the first day of your 8 Days Tanzania Budget Camping Safari with Njofu Expeditions, you’ll start with breakfast before embarking on a drive to Lake Manyara National Park in a 4×4 Land Cruiser safari car. You’ll be provided with lunch boxes and camping equipment for the journey. The park boasts dense forests where you can spot various wildlife such as monkeys, giraffes, elephants, impalas, hippos, flamingos, and with luck, even the rare tree-climbing lions. The game drives will continue until late afternoon, after which you’ll drive to Kudu camping for dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, we will depart for an unforgettable game drive in the Central Serengeti National Park, where you can experience the thrill of witnessing an abundance of lions and leopards in their natural habitat. This region of the park offers spectacular game viewing throughout the year, with endless plains and stunning wildlife such as cheetahs, elephants, giraffes, hippos, aardvarks, ostriches, pangolins, and much more. Learn more about the wonders of the Serengeti National Park on our website. At the end of the day, we will retreat to our comfortable public camping site in Seronera for a delicious dinner and a well-deserved overnight rest. This is just one of the many amazing experiences you will have on our Tanzania Budget Camping Safari, organized by Njofu Expeditions.

After breakfast, we’ll embark on a thrilling game drive along the Mara River in the Northern part of Serengeti National Park. Depending on the rainfall, the awe-inspiring crossings of the Mara River can commence as early as June or as late as August. Here, the wildebeest and zebras have to endure the Nile crocodile and fast-flowing water before confronting the lions waiting on the other side. During this season, game viewing is an impressive and dramatic experience. We’ll spend the night at Lobo Public Camping Site, where we’ll enjoy a delicious dinner before retiring for the night.

Njofu Expeditions welcomes you to another day of adventure! Today, we’ll kick off our journey with a sunrise game drive along the Mara River. It’s an incredible experience to witness these hoofed mammals in search of water and greener pastures, followed by the iconic predators of the African savannah. This journey of the wildebeest is full of danger, where only the strongest survive. You’ll also have the chance to spot other animals such as hippos, cheetahs, lions, elephants, leopards, giraffes, warthogs, and if you’re lucky, the endangered black rhino. As the sun sets, we’ll drive back to Lobo Camp Site for a delicious dinner and a cozy overnight stay.

After enjoying a delicious breakfast, you will embark on a game drive from Northern Serengeti National Park towards Central Serengeti before proceeding to Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will be spending the night at our Simba Public Campsite Ngorongoro.

After breakfast, we will embark on an exciting game drive with picnic lunch boxes to the Ngorongoro Crater, a natural wonder sheltering over 32,000 wild animals, including the Big Five. You will witness an array of animals such as buffaloes, zebras, wildebeest, warthogs, baboons, elephants, hippos, cheetah, flamingos, ostriches, and even the rare black rhinos. The beauty of the crater with its vibrant colors and dancing clouds will leave you in awe. We will continue our game drive until late afternoon and then proceed to our Twiga Camping Site. This is one of the most memorable experiences that Njofu Expeditions can offer you on your 8 Days Tanzania Budget Camping Safari.

After breakfast, at around 8:00 am, you will embark on a drive to Tarangire National Park, which is renowned for its vast number of elephants and is sometimes referred to as the home of elephants. The park comprises seasonal marshes, bush savannah, and various trees like baobab, acacia, and sausage trees. With over 400 different animal species including Maasai giraffes, antelopes, buffaloes, leopards, lions, baboons, and many more, this park offers an exciting game drive experience. You can also spot various species of birds. Game drives will be conducted until the evening when you will be driven to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home or your flight to Zanzibar, marking the end of your 8 Days Tanzania Budget Camping Safari.
