With a diameter of around 20 km, a depth of 600 meters, and an area of 300 sq km, the Ngorongoro Crater is a stunning natural wonder. Upon arrival, you will get the opportunity to visit Lake Magadi, a vast but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the main highlights of the crater. Countless flamingos, hippos, and other water birds can usually be seen here, and it’s also the central spot where you can see black Rhinos. Day 1: Arusha to Tarangire
After enjoying your breakfast at the lodge in Arusha, embark on a scenic drive to Tarangire National Park, which takes about 2.5 hours along the northern highways and through the Masai steppe. As soon as you arrive and check in, begin your first game drive to witness the stunning wildlife of the park, which runs along Tarangire River, the primary source of water in the entire park. This beautiful park at the base of the Great Rift Valley boasts large herds of elephants, giant baobab trees, and diverse species of wildlife such as zebras, buffalos, wildebeests, warthogs, elands, hippos, impalas, and many more. You might also catch a glimpse of rare species of Kudus, oryx, and the ash stalling birds that inhabit the park. Tarangire is a paradise for birdwatchers, with over 400 bird species, including weavers, stallings, and water birds, recorded in the park.
