Itinerary
Day 1: Pre-trek 6 Days Kilimanjaro trek Marangu route
At Njofu Expedition, if you’ve chosen our optional airport transfer service, we’ll ensure a smooth pick-up from Kilimanjaro Airport or Arusha Airport and take you to your hotel in Arusha.
Before the trek begins, we’ll conduct a pre-trek briefing at your hotel in Arusha. We recommend arriving at least a day before the trek to allow time for this essential preparation. During the briefing, we’ll review your equipment and assist you with renting any additional gear you may need.
Day 2: Marangu Gate to Mandara Hut
After breakfast, you’ll be driven to the Marangu Gate, where you’ll complete your registration and begin your ascent with Njofu Expedition. You’ll hike through the vibrant rainforest and arrive at the Mandara Hut (2,700m) in the late afternoon. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hut.
Meals: Lunch and Dinner
Day 3: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
After breakfast, we at Njofu Expedition will guide you as you leave the rainforest behind and trek through the heather and moorland zone, enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. In the late afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Horombo Hut (3,720m), where you’ll rest and acclimatize to the altitude. Overnight at the hut.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
Day 5: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak to Horombo Hut
With Njofu Expedition, you’ll be woken up at midnight and served a light breakfast before your summit attempt begins. You’ll climb in the dark with headlamps, reaching Gilman’s Point (5,681m) just in time for sunrise. From there, you’ll continue on to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), Africa’s highest point. After soaking in the breathtaking views, you’ll descend to the Kibo Hut for a short rest before heading down to the Horombo Hut (3,720m) for the night. Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate to Moshi
After breakfast, we at Njofu Expedition will guide you on your final descent to the Marangu Gate, where you’ll sign out and receive your well-deserved certificate of achievement. Following this, we will transfer you back to your hotel in Moshi for a celebratory dinner and an overnight stay.
